Does the name ‘Zontes’ ring a bell? I guessed not. This rather obscure motorcycle brand has its origins in China in 2003. Produced by Guangdong Tayo Motorcycle Technology Co., Ltd., this young motorcycle company is just beginning to make its presence felt in the Asian and European markets.
With some notable models in its range, Zonts is one of the new motorcycle brands looking to make a name for itself, especially in the European segment of beginner bikes. With this in mind, the Chinese company has introduced two new 125cc motorcycles in Europe. At a glance, you can tell that Zontes is not another Chinese motorcycle brand. With a unique and futuristic style, the brand offers a range of motorcycles consisting of street bikes, jammers, commuters and even light adventure bikes. Their wide range of motorcycles is appealing to the learner market in Europe.

Now let’s move on to the new models in question. Zontes launched the ZT125 range of bikes consisting of two variants on the European market. The ZT125-U, featuring a crisp, angular body, was designed as an entry-level naked street bike. Right off the bat, we can see that Zontes took inspiration from other aggressively styled nude motorcycles such as the KTM Duke and the BMW G310. It also features premium components in the form of LED lights, inverted forks, and an aluminum swingarm.

The Zontes ZT125-U aimed at novice riders with a penchant for futuristic styling, the ZT125-G1, on the other hand, features retro-inspired styling thanks to a round headlight and less angular bodywork. Equipped with dual sport tires, bar end mirrors and an engine guard, the ZT125-G1 is Zontes’ version of a modern day jammer.
When it comes to performance, both motorcycles in the ZT125 range come with a 124.7cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine with a power output of 14.75 horsepower, just a little below the 15 ponies cap on A1 approved machines. In addition, these bikes are offered at extremely competitive prices in the sea of ââA1 machines. Retailing for just 3,040 euros, or the equivalent of US $ 3,735, the Zontes ZT125-U and ZT125-G1 come with incredible value for money. For reference, most other A1 compliant bikes are above the 4,000 euro mark.
