The Islamabad Police Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) detained a wanted member of a bicycle-lifting gang and recovered 18 stolen motorcycles worth hundreds of thousands of rupees on Tuesday, Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer of the SSP (Operations).
Following orders from Inspector General of Police Qazi Jamilur Rehman, DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar assigned a special task to CIA police to curb the uprising of cars and motorcycles and to arrest the suspects involved.
The task force, under the supervision of the investigation by SSP Ataur Rehman, led by CIA DSP Hakim Khan, raided an area of Faizabad and succeeded in apprehending a suspect allegedly a member of a gang of cyclists identified as Mohsin Ali.
After investigating, the police recovered 18 stolen motorcycles from him. During the preliminary investigation, he confessed to having recovered these motorcycles in various districts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and to having sold them at lower prices.
A police spokesperson pointed out that the suspect was involved in seven cases of lifting bicycles in the industrial zone, Aabpara and other areas, while further investigation was underway to enable him to recover more motorcycles.
IGP Islamabad appreciated the team’s performance and announced awards.
