The Argentinian round of the Superbike and Supersport World Championship begins this Friday in San Juan Villicum. It’s the first of three rounds outside Europe in this final stretch of the season, which will be decisive in finding the champions.
In WSBK, Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) is the undisputed leader with 56 points. He has a considerable lead over Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha) – but it is far from certain that he is already champion, since there are 52 points at stake in a single round. Also in the running is Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki), who has an 82-point gap that he will be looking to close.
The battle for the WSSP title is slightly more balanced. Dominique Aegerter (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) leads the championship, with 45 points more than rookie Lorenzo Baldassarri (Evan Bros. Yamaha) – when a round has 50 points to award. Can Oncu (Kawasaki Puccetti), third, no longer has any mathematical chance of becoming champion.
