The FIM E-Xplorer World Cup electric off-road series is now looking for riders

In July 2021, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme announced the formation of an all-new racing series. The FIM E-Xplorer World Cup is an all-electric off-road racing series, with the intention of showing that racing can be both fun and promote sustainability. The series was set to launch in 2022, with a schedule of five events around the world to begin with.

It’s now April 2022 and the FIM has refined its plans for the E-Xplorer World Cup a bit since the initial announcement. At the time of writing, at least three E-Xplorer World Cup races are scheduled for its inaugural season, which begins in September 2022. Up to 12 teams will compete in “lead relay races head-to-head on two-wheeled off-road motorcycles powered by 100% electric motors.

Who can be a team? Each team, says the FIM, will consist of at least one woman and one man per team. More racers can make the team, but this series is trying to bridge all sorts of divisions at once, including bringing more women into motorsport.

Each selected competitor will be required to complete all three events of the inaugural season. Further details on the whole process will be communicated by the FIM to all candidates who register a formal expression of interest to participate in the 2022 FIM E-Xplorer World Cup.

If you wish to register such a formal expression, you have until 5 p.m. Central European Time on Friday, April 22, 2022 to do so. Eight pieces of information are required to be included in this formal expression of interest, including:

  • A cover letter introducing the candidates
  • Full contact details of a candidate
  • Certificate of incorporation of an applicant entity, details of administrative headquarters, date of foundation/registration, company number, copy of articles of association/memoranda and articles of association or equivalent and general management details
  • Identity of all shareholders and ultimate beneficial owner of all shares
  • CV for each officer and director of said company
  • Information about the nominee’s global reach and operations, including partnerships and sponsorships, and social media followings
  • Information about a candidate’s racing experience, capabilities and relevant engineering resources
  • Confirmation of whether applicants are willing to team up and/or associate with other applicants to officially form a racing team for competition in the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup

Interested parties can send the above information to before the April 22 deadline. We will include links to relevant information in our sources for you to consult, particularly if you wish to register your interest in the competition.
