Superbike World Championship kicks off this weekend: Aragon schedule

The World Superbike season begins tomorrow at MotorLand Aragón, with Superbike, Supersport, Supersport 300 and now the new R3 bLU cRU Cup entering the programme.

In WSBK, Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha) enters to defend his title, in a season where the opposition promises to be strong. First there is his main rival for 2021 and six-time champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki), but also Alvaro Bautista who returns to the Ducati Aruba.it. There are a number of newcomers to the championship, including Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge in the official Honda team, while BMW now has Scott Redding alongside Michael van de Mark – the latter unable to compete in Aragón in due to injury and is replaced. by Ilya Mikhalchik.

Renewed with new technical regulations, the WSSP class has the commitment of two manufacturers – Ducati and Triumph – who promise to add to the championship. Dominique Aegerter will defend his title with Yamaha Ten Kate Racing, with strong opposition expected with names such as Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati), Federico Caricasulo (Althea Racing/Ducati), Lorenzo Baldassarri (Evan Bros./Yamaha) or Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha).

The WSSP300 has several new additions to the lineup and Samuel di Sora (Leader Team Flembbo/Kawasaki) is the most important among the entries, as he is the highest ranked starter in 2021. However, there are other experienced big names such as Bruno Ieraci (Prodina Racing/Kawasaki), Marc García (Yamaha MS Racing), Hugo de Cancellis (Prodina Racing/Kawasaki) or Yuta Okaya (MTM Kawasaki).
