Race Analysis: Interview with 2022 BSB Champion Mackenzie in the April issue – Roadracing World Magazine

Featured in the April 2022 issue of Roadracing World:

While most people were recovering from the holidays, Tarran Mackenzie was trying to get a broken leg fixed in time to defend his British Superbike Championship (BSB). Mackenzie broke his right shin and dislocated his shoulder when he took a heavy fall shortly after starting pre-season training in Spain in January. The 26-year-old rider was riding in Cartagena with other riders fleeing the British winter and working to be ready for the opening of the British Superbike round at Silverstone on April 16 and 17.

In theory, the leg is not a big deal; like most professional motorcycle riders, Mackenzie knows how to ride with broken bones. Last summer his push for the BSB Championship barely missed a beat when he slammed into a barrier at Cadwell Park, breaking a finger and three weeks later he broke his left hand and wrist at Silverstone.

I fought at Cadwell and then went to Snetterton two weeks later and almost did the Triple,” he says. “I realized at that moment that it didn’t matter what happened to me, I can still make the title happen, one way or another…”
