PLN prepares 14 UPS, 11 generators for MotoGP

Technically, we have covered the electricity needs of MotoGP

Jakarta (ANTARA) – State-owned power company PT PLN has prepared several strategies to provide uninterrupted service during the MotoGP race at Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), ranging from preparing 14 uninterruptible power supplies (UPS ) to 11 generators.

PLN West Nusa Managing Director Tenggara Sudjarwo says main power supply for MotoGP will come from Lombok power system, second layer inverter and third layer generators in case of main power supply disruption and the second.

“A total of 14 inverters, with a total output of 2.4 megawatt amperes, were imported from Bima, Sumbawa, East Java, Jakarta and East Nusa Tenggara,” Sudjarwo noted in a press release Wednesday.

This commitment to providing uninterrupted service is also reflected in the testing of operational eligibility certificates for mobile generators imported from Papua. The generator was also used to make the 2020 National Games (PON) in Papua a success last year.

Sudjarwo pointed out that PLN has prepared 11 generator sets, with a total capacity of 6.2 kilovolt amperes, which will operate during the MotoGP event.

This layered security system will make the Mandalika circuit power grid reliable and ensure that there are no disturbances.

“Technically, we have met the power needs of MotoGP. The uninterrupted power service system is a layered power system prepared by PLN since last year’s World Superbike,” he said.

Previously, PLN managed to offer excellent power services during World Superbike in November 2021 at the same venue.

The 5.19 megawatt ampere power supply was provided by PLN to the Indonesian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as a customer to meet power requirements in the circuit area from the paddock to the medical center.

MotoGP racing at Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok, kicked off with a pre-season test from February 11-13, 2022, while the MotoGP series at Mandalika will take place from March 18-20, 2022.
