A GRATEFUL parent arranged a special motorcycle escort for her daughter’s principal to show appreciation for her support.
Principal of Rigby Hall School, Tracey Smith is entitled to a huge motorbike escort thanks to the benevolent gesture of a parent.
Barbara Wilkes wanted to show Mrs Smith how much she and the other parents appreciate her work and support as headmistress.
Barbara’s nine-year-old daughter Rachel has been attending Rigby Hall for three years and has received a “fantastic level of support”.
“Tracey is such a wonderful person – all the children at Rigby Hall have a disability and she goes above and beyond for every child,” Barbara said.
“She does so much more than being a school principal.
“She has been there for our family so much and has been really supportive.
“I wanted to do something to tell him a big thank you and how much we appreciate him.
“I spoke to her a few years ago and she told me that she had always wanted to ride on the back of a motorcycle.
“My husband and I are part of the Redditch Charity Bikers so I thought I’d organize this for her.”
About 200 bikers are expected for the event on Sunday April 10.
The route will start at Sanders Park at 10.15am and Tracy will be picked up at 10.45am from Rigby Hall.
Tracey said she was overwhelmed by Barbara’s generosity.
“She tried to do this before Covid, so I didn’t expect her to have it all planned out again,” Tracy said.
“I always wanted to ride on the back of a motorbike because my uncle was a big bike lover, but unfortunately he passed away so I never had the chance.
“It’s really social that she remembers that.”
On the day, donations will also be collected which will go to Rigby Hall School.
