“It was a better race compared to Argentina” – Marco Bezzecchi

Marco Bezzecchi managed to score for the third time this season in MotoGP, repeating his best result so far with ninth place yesterday at the Spanish GP in Jerez.

Commenting on his race to the press, the Italian of Mooney VR46 Racing Team said it was a different race to the one that also finished ninth in Argentina: ‘It was good. I enjoyed the race and it was better compared to Argentina in terms of race management. In Argentina the overtaking was good, but it was a completely different race, it wasn’t fast like here because the tire management was more difficult. Here the leading riders pushed very hard from start to finish. I am very happy with this race”.

In further analysis of the events of his run, Bezzecchi said: ‘At first I started well, I gained a position, I passed [Johann] Zarco. Then [Takaaki] Nakagami was ahead of me, but I was overtaken by [Joan] Mir at turn six. I tried to follow them and for five or six laps I was close. But then, as I stayed behind, the front tire was hotter and I had less confidence. So it was more difficult, then I lost a bit. I still won something, but it was difficult to be very close too because he was a few tenths faster. I tried to stay there, I tried to attack as much as possible every lap, and I was managing Zarco’s header at the start, then [Enea] Bastianini. But in the last three laps I started having a lot of trouble with the front end, Bastianini passed me at the end and I was in ninth place.
