For many, 2020 has been a year to forget. For American runner Garrett Gerloff, 2020 has been a year he will never forget, despite his challenges. When Roadracing World last spoke to the 25-year-old Texan in the June issue, he was from completed a revealing first weekend with his GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Junior Team YZF-R1 in the FIM Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island. Then the world was locked down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like the COVID-19 situation improved and the race ready to resume, Gerloff had to jump through bureaucratic hoops in in order to return to Europe just before the resumption of the new 2020 Superbike World Championship in Jerez. From there it was a whirlwind of action with seven rounds and 21 races – and plenty of ups and downs – crammed into just 11 weeks, but Gerloff found successâ¦
