Casey Stoner is one of the greatest road motorcycle riders of all time and the only one to have won a MotoGP World Championship on Ducati’s Desmosedici, the bike that has baffled many world champions.

The notoriously delicate Desmosedici hasn’t been easy, even for Stoner. At the end of his rookie MotoGP season in 2006, the 21-year-old stepped out of his LCR Honda RC211V and onto the big red Ducati. “My first thoughts were, ‘What have I done ?!’ He recalls chatting on FaceTime from his Australian home. “I thought I had sent my career on a spiral by going with Ducati. But we never let that get the best of us – “Let’s go work with all we have”. “
