THERE will be another brilliant mix of sprint and endurance racing in store during the BRSCC’s first visit of the year to Croft Circuit this weekend with the Fun Cup Endurance Championship, the culmination of the another action-packed meeting.
The popular series will again be contested over a four-hour period on Saturday afternoon in a 13-race schedule over the two days with equally large sedan, sports and single-seater races over the weekend.
Croft has been synonymous with the Formula Ford brand over the years since the series’ inauguration in the 1960s and this weekend’s event will see rounds of the Avon Tires National and Northern Formula Ford Championships on both days.
The popular Ford Fiesta is represented with three rounds of the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta Championship while the stars of tomorrow will undoubtedly contest the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship in their usual uncompromising action.
One of the biggest grids will be reserved for the Darlington & District Motor Club’s Northern Sports and Saloon Car Championship, which sees an eclectic mix of cars contesting both races on Sunday. Paul Brydon took his BMW M3 to overall victory in the opening round at Oulton Park over Easter, but expect Middlesbrough’s Jack Harper (Triumph Spitfire) and Darlington driver David Cox (Peugeot 205) uphold local honor.
Practices begin at 9.30am on Saturday with the first of three races including the Fun Cup Endurance race starting at 12.55pm while Sunday will see track action from 12pm with the remaining ten races starting at 12.25pm.
Adult admission is just £17 a day with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted free on both days. There is also free parking and free access to the paddock.
Meanwhile, with less than two months until Croft Circuit hosts the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on the weekend of June 25-26, advance tickets are still available. Advance adult fares are £15 for Saturday (£17 at the door), £30 for Sunday (£35 at the door) and £40 for a weekend ticket (£47 at the door). door, subject to availability). Haslam in Northallerton chat
MOTO racing star Leon Haslam will travel to Northallerton next Tuesday evening to take part in a chat show at the Golden Lion Hotel as the latest guest of the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club.
The 2018 British Superbike Champion is the son of ‘Rocket Ron’ Haslam and has a host of races around the world in the 500cc Grands Prix as well as the World Superbike Championship, but this season is back in BSB with a VisionTrack Kawasaki.
Alongside Leon are a number of Affinity Academy Kawasaki riders whom Leon, Ron and former racer John Laverty are training for the British Championships this year.
Admission is £15 (members £10) and starts at 8pm.
A date for later in the year will be when four-time Superbike World Champion and ITV I’m a Celebrity star Carl Fogarty visits NYRRSC at the Golden Lion on October 7.
