From WSSP300 to WSBK: Oliver König at Orelac Racing VerdNatura

After making his 2021 WSBK debut at the final round of the championship in Indonesia, Oliver König jumps straight from the WSSP300 to the highest category to race under the colors of Orelac Racing VerdNatura.

The 19-year-old Czech driver thus becomes the youngest on the grid for the season which is getting closer and closer to his start, jumping from the initiation class to the highest, not being in Supersport.

With a career started in 2019, having participated in five SSP300 races, and with a seventh place at Donington Park, the pilot won his first podium two years later at Most, and will now drive a Kawasaki ZX-10RR. Konig will be the first full-time Czech rider in the category since 2018.

Here is the first reaction of the pilot after confirming the ascent in WSBK: ‘What can I say? It’s a dream come true! I don’t believe I’ve made that move yet. I’m so happy because after Indonesia where the round wasn’t so good and fun because everyone knows I crashed. The gap wasn’t that bad, I think, for the first time in WorldSBK. Everything was new to me. I am very happy with this move, this contract. All I can say is that I am very happy, and I thank the Orelac team, all those who believed and trusted me, and I hope that I will do well this season, with good progress”.
