Daijiworld Media Network – Chikkamagaluru (SP)

Chikkamagaluru, March 14: After a car and a motorbike were involved in a head-on collision near the town of Birur in the district, the cyclist died instantly. His wife, who was driving the passenger, suffered serious injuries and breathed her last some time later in a hospital.

The deceased were Anand (35) and Laxmi (33) from Karehalli village near Birur. The couple were heading towards the AIT circle from the direction of the Hanumanthappa circle when the accident happened. The car was heading towards Chikkamagaluru from Birur.

Due to the impact of the accident, the car was badly mutilated. The bike plunged into a roadside pit where it caught fire and burned to ashes. One case was registered at the city’s traffic police station.

Anand and his wife were traveling to Dharmasthala with another couple, who were their friends, on separate motorbikes. In the early hours of Sunday, as the bike was traveling on the embankment of Dantaramakki Lake in the city, a car that approached the place from the direction of the Hanumantappa circle at considerable speed, rammed the bike.

Anand died at the scene while Laxmi, who suffered serious injuries, did not survive even though she was treated in a hospital. The car had four students from a college in town. They suffered minor injuries.
