Biker seriously injured after accident outside Manchester United FC stadium

A motorcyclist was seriously injured after an accident outside a football field.

Police were called to St Mary’s Road in Moston on Monday evening after reports of a collision between a motorbike and a car.

The motorcycle is believed to have been stolen.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

His condition is not described as life threatening.

Officers scoured the scene for clues, with a motorcycle seen in the middle of the road inside the cordon.

The incident took place outside Broadhurst Park, home ground for Manchester United FC, as the Premier League North side hosted Ashton United.

The road remained closed as supporters left the ground full time, and then reopened around 7 p.m.

An air ambulance flew over the ground and over a nearby park as emergency services responded.

A GMP spokesperson said: “We were called at around 4:10 pm on Monday 27 December with a report of a collision involving a car and motorbike on St. Mary’s Road, Manchester.

“The driver of the motorcycle – a man – was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

“A suspected stolen motorcycle was seized and the owner notified.

“A road collision report has been submitted.”
