The Utah High School Cycling League will once again host two mountain bike race weekends in Price. Region 2 teams from across the state, including Moab, will descend on Price for their opening round on August 27. Region 5 teams, including local Carbon Composite, will race at Price on September 17.
Races are held on the Butch Cassidy Trail, accessible from Cedar Hills Drive, north of 800 North in Price. Each race weekend will see more than 1,000 middle and high school runners on the course on Friday afternoon for the pre-race and all day Saturday with racing from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Race weekend brings not only runners, but also coaches, family and friends to Price where they support our hotels, restaurants and other local businesses. Spectators and volunteers are welcome at the races. Volunteers for race weekends can register at https://www.utahmtb.org/volunteer. Those looking to directly support the Carbon Composite team can get more information at Altitude Cycle in Price.
The Carbon Composite team kicks into high gear at Manti on August 20, then heads to Snowbasin on September 3 before heading back to Price on September 17. The high school runners will compete in the regional meet in Richfield on October 1. , then qualifying will continue at the state championship in St. George on October 21-22.
