Moscow: Shortly after Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was jailed for violating parole conditions, a video went viral on all social media platforms where he is seen sharing a warm moment with his wife during legal proceedings.
Posted by Reuters and ABC News, Navalny is seen making heart gestures with his hand and drawing it on the glass door for his wife, Yulia, with a smile on her face. The 45-second video struck a chord on the internet.
US news agency ABC News also shared the video on its Twitter page.
The video was shared widely not only on the microblogging site, but also on other social media platforms. A total of just over 5 lakhs of views are collected by this clip.
Navalny was sentenced to nearly three years in prison for violating parole conditions in a 2014 embezzlement case. Renowned critic of Putin, his arrest was not well received by internet users. Therefore, the video posted above made many people moved and prayed for his safety and well-being as well as that of his wife.
Many also called him “brave”. as well as criticized Vladimir Poutine and his government for putting him behind bars.
Alexei Navalny was arrested on January 17 while returning from Germany to Russia. In August 2020, he was poisoned with “Novichok”, a military grade nerve agent with the aim of assassinating him. An uproar was seen across the country when Navalny was sentenced.
