A long-vehicle truck crushed three people on a motorcycle to death in Asuboi, a community along the Accra-Kumasi highway.
The accident happened at around 4 a.m. on Saturday.
The deceased, including a final year college student, were returning from a wake in Ayeh, a nearby community.
Information gathered indicates that the motorcyclist passed the truck at the pedestrian bridge, but toppled over after crashing into a rock, forcing the motorcycle to crash in front of the truck which overturned and killed the three men on the cut.
Nana Ohene Kwadwo Kyidomhene of Asuboi told Kasapa News that “the victims are all from Anom, a suburb of Asuboi. Two of them are siblings while the other is cousin of a community fetishist. One of the victims is a final year JHS student preparing for his final exams ”.
The mutilated bodies of the deceased were taken to the government hospital in Suhum
Road accidents killed a total of 342 passengers in the eastern region from January to July this year.
Of that number, 130 people were killed in 345 crashes involving motorcycles and motorized tricycles commonly known as Pragia, compared with 108 passengers killed in 627 crashes involving commercial vehicles during the same period.
Accidents involving passenger cars have left 50 dead while 54 pedestrians have been crushed to death.
